Daveyton singer wins gospel competition

“I did not expect to win, but I trusted God to see me through and I gave it all on stage,” she says.

Daveyton – Ntokozo Dube was crowned as the winner of the annual All White Gospel Picnic talent search over the weekend.

The 25-year-old won prizes which include studio recording time, a music video and mentorship from industry leaders to the value of R150 000.

The talent search is a precursor to the All White Gospel Picnic, which is a family-friendly, outdoor celebration scheduled to take place on November 2 at Carnival City.

The judges had a tough time deciding on the winner, as all contestants brought their A game and sang their lungs out.

The competition is aimed at unearthing raw talent from townships with an aim to afford the winner an opportunity to record a gospel song, shoot a music video and get to share a stage with the gospel industry’s top acts.

Ntokozo will make a grand appearance and perform her debut single during this year’s edition of the annual All White Gospel Picnic.

“I believe this was God’s perfect plan. I am glad I took a chance and came to audition.

“I did not expect to win, but I trusted God to see me through and I gave it all on stage,” she says.

Head of the Arts and Culture Division at the City of Ekurhuleni Nontuthuzelo Siphambo says the metro is committed to empowering young people in everything they believe they are good at.
