Learners alleged to have raped Grade R learner

“The station management will investigate the allegations raised by the mother about the police who refused to open the case."

Tsakane – A Grade R learner from a primary school in Extension Five was allegedly sexually assaulted by four boys aged nine within the school premises last week.

It is alleged the learner was about to go home when he was pushed into one of the empty classes by the learners who allegedly took turns raping him.

When the boy arrived at home his mother identified that there was something wrong with him and inquired.

He told her about the incident and she went to the school the following day and she was referred to the police.

Provincial police spokesperson Capt Kay Makhubela says the mother allegedly reported the matter to the police, but they could not help her.

Makhubela is advising the mother to ask to see the Tsakane SAPS station commander.

“Police were assigned to obtain a statement and register the case for investigation.

“The station management will investigate the allegations raised by the mother about the police who refused to open the case.

“South African Police Service has a specialised unit dealing with cases against women and children called Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offence Unit,” he says.
