Learners plant trees for Arbor Month

“We were able to raise R2 500 on the day which went towards the good deed,” he says.

Tsakane – Soul Buddies learners and teachers from Geluksdal Primary School planted trees and flowers at their school on Friday.

This was part of the annual Arbor Week in the first week of September which is aimed at planting trees and beautifying the environment.

School principal Vusi Mavuso says as part of the team’s first project in the school, they decided to raise funds towards buying the tree plants and seedlings.

Learners from Geluksdal Primary School learn more about the importance of trees and how to take care of them.

“We hosted a doek day were teachers and learners wore doeks and donated money towards the campaign.

“We were able to raise R2 500 on the day which went towards the good deed,” he says.

Mavuso says he is proud of his learners for leading this campaign and making a success out of it.

“The initiative will teach the learners to be responsible in watering the plants and making sure that they are well looked after and entice their love for nature.

“Our school will be beautiful and soon the trees will be big enough to provide shade,” he adds.
