Chiefs fans confident their side will defend their Carling Black Label Cup title

Both sides agree that fans need to behave appropriately at the stadium and not fight or throw rubble onto the pitch.

Kwatsaduza – Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs fans are in for a pre-season treat in the form of the Carling Black Label Cup.

The derby will take place this Saturday at the FNB Stadium, with kick-off at 3pm.

The competition, which began in 2011, sees fans of the Soweto giants voting for the players they want on the pitch and gives a fan from each team the chance to sit on the bench as the coach for their side.

Arlapark resident and Chiefs fan Mabhayi Maseko is confident her side will win the cup and predicts that the score will be 1-0 to Chiefs.

Chiefs have won the competition three times and are the defending champions.

“Although we had a bad season, I am confident my team will win as we have new signings who I feel have settled into the team and have learned our style of play,” she says.

Fellow Chiefs fan and Langaville resident Teka Matsepane agrees.

“Last season was really disappointing, but we need to keep supporting and uplifting the team.

“I think the boys will deliver a 2-1 win.”

He predicts his side, which has won the competition four times, will win by 2-0.

Both sides agree that fans need to behave appropriately at the stadium and not fight or throw rubble onto the pitch.

Transport for the Chiefs Arlapark Branch supporters will depart from McKenzie at 11am, while transport for Pirates and Chiefs fans from KwaThema will depart from KwaThema Pick n Pay at 10.30am.
