Gold One a no-show at Mbolokoqoshe Winter Games

Coach of TBOESA Thabo Hlabathi says he is disappointed that they did not make it to the next round as he had hoped.

Tsakane – The Mbolokoqoshe Winter Games brought some heat to Tsakane this weekend, where 16 teams battled it out for the eight quarter-final spots.

On Saturday, Jananda Stars beat Dream Team 2-0 in a trilling match and went through to the quarter-finals with an aggregate score of 3-1.

Ngcobo United tried in vain to get through to the next round when they lost to Atchar Garlic FC 5-1.

The nail in their coffin, however, was the 5-2 aggregate score in favour of Atchar Garlic FC.

In a close game, Magic 10 Academy beat Delmas Rovers 1-0 and secured their place in the quarter-finals with an aggregate score of 3-2.

Luck was on Simunye FC’s side when Gold One failed to pitch for their match, resulting in Simunye gaining automatic entry into the quarter-finals, even though the aggregate score was 4-0 in favour of Gold One.

EK FM Sports Front host and Brakpan Local Football Association administration officer Votile Jack says Gold One didn’t pitch because of transport issues.

On Sunday, Bolivia FC cruised into the quarter-finals with an aggregate score of 8-3 against NY Masters, after the teams held each other to a 3-all draw.

A 1-0 win was not enough to save TBOESA against 2BY2, who went through to the quarter-finals on an aggregate score of 2-1.

“We missed four clear chances during that match, which would have cemented our place in the finals,” he says.

“Going forward, we will use the off-season to work on our game plan and teach our new players the culture of the team,” he continues.

Amazababa booked their spot in the next round when they beat Verbal Warning 2-0, with an aggregate score of 4-1.

The biggest winners of the day were The Birds, who beat Elco Santos 3-1 and had a final aggregate score of 4-1.

The quarter-finals will be played on July 13 at Malandela Ground in Tsakane, and the semi-finals and finals on July 14, also at Malandela Ground.
