Karate dojo awards students for hard work

Mabuza is appealing to parents to allow their children to participate in sports especially karate.

Tsakane – Students from Short & Sweet Shotokan Karate Institute SA received awards from their instructor sensei Jackson Mabuza to encourage and motivate the fighters to better their craft.

Mabuza says they decided to award the best and dedicated students who have through the year performed at their best.

“We believe the recognition by the academy will help in motivating the students to have self-confidence.

“Some students have never received awards in their life. By motivating them it will help build their self-esteem and mental strength,” he explains.

“We are living in a dangerous society; our children need to learn how to defend themselves.

“We should also remember that karate is a way of life. We teach the students discipline and how to tackle challenges as young adults,” he says.

Siyabulela Mbobosi received an award for being the most improved student and Mpendulo Sithole was awarded for being the most promising student.

Tshianeo Mashamba received an award for being the most improved student. He is dedicated and the silver medalist in all competitions, while Manqoba Mabuza received an award for being the best sportsman of the year. He is the gold medalist in all competitions and he is highly dedicated and motivated.

Short & Sweet is the home for those who have lost hope. They are passionate about this sport.

“Some of our students were troubled but through participation and learning social skills they are better citizens,” says Mabuza.
