Extra maths classes for struggling learners

“Learners are struggling to understand the fundamentals of mathematics, but we have seen progress in the past few months and there is improvement,” says Collen Wiseman Msibi, the founder The Mathematics Excelling Academy.

KwaThema – The Mathematics Excelling Academy is inviting learners to enrol for extra classes ahead of the third term.

Registrations will be open from June 29 to July 13 at Ntokozweni Primary School in KwaThema, White City, from 9am to 2pm.

Class time during this period will also be extended; the class will start from 8am to 2pm every Saturday.

The free lessons are for learners who are struggling with maths, maths literacy and accounting.

There will also be access to Wi-Fi, so learners can download previous question papers and school-related learning material.

“Learners are struggling to understand the fundamentals of mathematics, but we have seen progress in the past few months and there is improvement,” says Collen Wiseman Msibi, the founder The Mathematics Excelling Academy.

Msibi says although there is progress, they still face major challenges as parents are not supportive and do not show interest in their children’s education.

“Parents must be actively involved in their children’s education.

“With support from parents, learners tend to perform better and their marks improve.”

They have also added a workshop programme aimed at assisting learners who are in Grade 10, 11 or 12 to apply at universities and colleges.

“There will be a school camp just before they write their final exams; therefore, I would like to encourage learners and parents to sign up for this programme,” says Msibi.

He is asking for learning materials as some of the learners do not have textbooks and assistance with food for the learners during their lunch time.

Parents who are interested in enrolling their children or anyone who would like to get more information can contact Msibi on 078 729 7675.
