Communities enjoy local soccer tournament in Langaville

The winners walked away with R800, a trophy and 25 gold medals and the runner-up got 25 silver medals.

 

The Dusty Soccer Knockout tournament, which was hosted by Palamente Football Club, had a major turnout as locals came out in numbers to show support.

The soccer tournament was played at various sports ground in Langaville. Extensions One, Six and Eight sports ground were utilised as venues for the sporting event.

The tournament was a two-day event which started on June 15 and ended on June 16.

Sports, heritage, arts and culture sector representative of Langaville Abraham Cindi says, “I am happy and very thankful to everyone who took their time to come and show us support. We would have loved to have had other sporting codes but unfortunately, that didn’t happen but we respect Youth Day as our fellow brothers and sisters died fighting for us.”

The u-15 Bazingeli Rovers won 4-2 against Black Stars on penalties. For the seniors games Black Stars won 4-3 beating Sparrows on penalties. As it was a tough and intense game both teams were hungry for the first prize position.

Sparrows FC were left disappointed as they had high hopes at the beginning of the games.

Sparrows FC Secretary Skhulu Mazibuko says, “As we are playing in the regional league I had the utmost confidence that we would win this tournament today, but, nonetheless, the team played and I am very proud of how they played.”
