The event is to encourage community members to take responsibility for their own health.

There will be various testing stations on the day from health and social services where tests for HIV/Aids, diabetes, hypertension and cancer will be done.

With the increase of prostate cancer, men are urged to come for testing on the day.

“We encourage men to come and get tested for prostate cancer as it grows slowly and shows itself at a later stage,” says Ngwenya.

According to the Cansa website, prostate cancer is among the top five cancers affecting South African man and an early screening test can enable more effective treatment and a better chance of recovery.
