Musician starts a fast food business

The owner of the three-week-old fast food restaurant, Food Cartel 101, started the business to follow his love for food.

Musician and entrepreneur Sizwe Mpiliso is encouraging the youth to go into entrepreneurship when they are unable to find work.

The owner of the three-week-old fast food restaurant, Food Cartel 101, started the business to follow his love for food.

“I love food and I love making food, so when I faced challenges, a food business was the natural choice,” he says.

Mpiliso, who is also a gospel musician, was studying sound engineering at the Academy of Sound Engineering when his mother died.

“My mother died while I was studying and, as a result, I had to drop out as there was no funding.

“Two weeks after her funeral I recorded my album at the SABC studios” he adds.

After pursuing his music career, Mpiliso decided to start a food business, which he intends to make a franchise.

“I hope to make my business a franchise and open many other branches where I can hire other young people” he says.

He also advises young people to go into entrepreneurship and not give up on their dreams.

“It is hard to find a job and sometimes entrepreneurship may be what saves you.

“In everything, never give up on your dreams no matter how tough it gets because there is always hope,” he concludes.
