38 KwaThema athletes earn medals at the Comrades Marathon

KwaThema Striders experienced the highest number of runners this year compared to last year’s 52.

Kwatsaduza – 62 KwaThema Striders long distance were part of the over 20 000 runners who braved the 87 km 2019 Comrades Marathon Up run in Durban on Sunday morning.

The race started at 5.30am at the City Hall in Durban and finished at 5.30pm pm at the Scottsville Racecourse in Pietermaritzburg.

Of the 62 registered runners, only 38 completed the “Ultimate” race at record time and received medals for their hard work.

However, 21 runners could not finish their challenge due to injuries, while three others could not make it to the venue of the race because could not afford travelling and accommodation expenses.
