Lucas Maseko, mentor at the organisation, says: “We want to revive arts and culture in the community as we believe our youth has talent, but are fighting a difficult battle against nyaope.”

The show will take place at the Duduza Resource Centre from 11am. To buy tickets, contact the event organiser on 073 211 3314. Tickets are R30 and will cost R40 at the door.

Lucas explains that there are still some misconceptions when it comes to art. People are still not investing in art as they believe that art is a luxury for people with money. However, they overlook the fact that art holds numerous benefits, not only for artists, but for the community at large.

“The youth benefits from the club as it keeps them off the streets and exposes them to things they can do with their hands and body.

“It teaches them to express themselves through their bodies.”
