Business Park boost entrepreneur dignity in KwaThema

“Having an office space restores my dignity and credibility as a business person.” Teke

KwaThema – The City of Ekurhuleni opened the KwaThema Business Park on May 3 for rental by small, medium and micro enterprise businesses (SMMEs).

Building commenced in 2016 and already has businesses renting office space at the premises.

The facility has 32 office units, 12 industry units, three administration offices and two training rooms.

Mayor Mzwandile Masina told his audience to keep the park in a pristine state, and not destroy it should they be displeased with the City.

“SMMEs are welcome to utilise this space and create employment opportunities in their community,” says Masina.

Refiloe Mgcina, who runs “Soil Ekurhuleni”, a magazine that empowers youth, is one of the tenants.

“Rent here is really affordable and because I live in KwaThema, getting to work is not a hassle because I can even walk to work,” she says.

Mduduzi Bambisa, who is also a tenant and runs Khosi-Fikile Waste, a company that collects and disposes of medical waste, agrees.

“I used to rent office space in Kempton Park where the rent was steep.

“Working from the business park is great because I can even meet very tight deadlines because I do not waste time stuck in traffic,” he explains.

In addition to proximity to their homes and affordable rent, tenants believe that the new office space gives them credibility and restores their dignity.

Kgotso Teke, director of construction company, LOLT Trading, says: “I used to work from my home and from my car, which made it difficult to have meetings with clients because it is not easy for people to trust you if you call them for a meeting at your house or in your car.

The units are currently rented for R300 a unit.

The phase one park currently has 32 occupants with phase two due to open on May 6 for new occupants.

Applications forms are available at the KwaThema Customer Care Centre.
