Metro hopes to adopt new resolution regarding closure of swimming pools.

The metro has heeded residents’ concerns and will be revisiting the Council resolution of 2006 directing that pools, as non-essential and emergency services, should not be operational as from December 22 to January 1.

Due to the need and demand from the public for swimming pools to be open during the holiday season, the metro will pursue a new council resolution that will enable swimming pools to be opened during the festive season as from the next festive season (December 2019), but will be closed on December 25 and 26 and January 1.

“The metro will ensure that risks and challenges such as crowd control and the health and safety of our communities at these facilities are of high priority, in line with our strategic objective of ensuring a safer,” says Zweli Dlamini, spokesperson for the city manager.

The public will be informed of the new festive season swimming calendar in advance.
