Local karatekas fight in PE

“If it wasn’t for the continuous support we wouldn’t be here. Through their help we will be able to mould young people to become disciplined and respect their seniors in our communities.”

KwaThema – Local karate fighters participated in the first annual anniversary of Pan African Shotokan Karate Federation Championship held in PE recently.

Three provinces across the country, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and Gauteng, participated in the championship.

Young fighters from KwaThema Pan African Shotokan Karate Club represented Gauteng during the event.

Chief instructor Micheal Cindi says he is proud of the young fighters from his team who fought to the end to be part of those crowned during the event.

“Mbali Motha, who was demonstrating in kumite and kata, received second and third position in the u-9 category.

“Mhlonishwa Madonsela participated in the u-9 and finished second in kumite and third in kata demonstrations while Onkgopotse Teke finished third in both kata and kumite.

“In the seniors challenge, Mpendulo Nyembe was crowned in third position in kata and second in kumite demonstrations while Asanda Skhosana finished third in kumite,” he says.

Coach Alfred Mkhondwane says they appreciate the support of the local business people who made it possible for the young sportsmen to travel to the PE.
