Sibusiso shares Madiba’s birthday

Sibusiso Children’s Home Celebrated Sibusiso Hlatswayo’s 13th birthday on Mandela Day on Wednesday.

KwaThema – The teenager was born and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.

They celebrated his birthday with some of the children who are living with different disabilities in the area.

During the celebration, local businesses offered to renovate the centre and donate blankets, groceries and educational toys for the children.

Centre founder, Jabulile Molakeng, says they decided to open their home to all children living with disabilities last year.

“We were concerned about the shortage of centres in the area catering for children with disabilities.

“Those who did, we were not happy about how they took care of the children because they have special needs.

“We were forced to send him away to boarding school and could only see him once a month,” she says.

Jabulile explains they are currently catering for five children.

“One of our challenges is the shortage of funds and attracting sponsors.

“We are calling on sponsors to lend a helping hand to help improve the centre.

“We are also urging parents with children living with disabilities to enrol their children to the centre.

“They deserve to interact with others and receive the care they deserve,” he says.
