Association makes it easy to identify 4+1 taxis

The Springs Taxi Association is focusing on ensuring compliance of 4+1 taxis, izigcebhe, in KwaThema.

Reedville – Willie Sithole, the association’s PRO, says the campaign will also help curb crime in instances where criminals use 4+1 taxis.

“We are aware that many people have fallen victim to drivers but could not identify those cars adequately.

“We want the community to be able to identify which cars are taxis and those which are not.”

The 4+1 sticker will be at the bottom right-hand corner of the front windscreen and the rear windscreen.

The organisation has stepped up its efforts to help taxi owners comply with the regulations of the Department of Roads and Transport for the benefit of commuters.

“The number on the sticker tells us whose car it is.

“This process also helps us to know exactly how many taxis we have and enforces membership compliance.”

The sticker will be placed at the bottom right-hand corner of the front windscreen and rear windscreen.

He says no one is permitted to operate a 4+1 taxi if they are not a member of the association.

“We want to assist those who haven’t affiliated to do so quickly.

“We are also urging those who haven’t come forward to visit the Springs office.”

The campaign started on Monday and ran until Wednesday.

“We had a general meeting last Wednesday and we announced the requirements.

“Everyone should know by now what we need,” says Sithole.

The association also wants to make the public aware of the impending price adjustment.

“Once we know exactly what the new taxi fare is, we will announce it to the community.

“But it is inevitable.”
