KwaThema police were searching for a woman who is an employee of a Springs bank who allegedly fled with R380 000 cash last Sunday.

It is alleged the 29-year-old suspect was working in the bulk banking department on the day the money went missing.

“She told the family she was only going out for lunch and would be back within three to four hours but they never heard from her again.

“She left her work and cars keys at home and didn’t report for duty on Monday morning.

“One of her colleagues received a Whatsapp message from an international number from the suspect informing them where her work keys were,” he says.

Sibuyi says they received information from the Springs police that the suspect who was reported missing was in fact being investigated for theft.

“We followed up on the number and traced the boyfriend’s wife who called her husband and he told her he was in Nigeria but not with the suspect,” he says.
