Pastors donate school shoes to 30 learners

Thirty learners from disadvantaged backgrounds from Muzomsha Primary School each received a pair of schools shoes from Interdenominational Africa Ministers Association (IDAMASA).

KwaThema – The initiative was made possible by the pastors who minister at the school weekly after identifying the need.

Reverend Oupakie Mdhlane says during their visit to the school they identified that there were many learners who didn’t have school shoes.

“Many were wearing takkies while others’ shoes were worn out.

“Many of the learners are from disadvantaged backgrounds and their parents are often unemployed and cannot afford to buy them school shoes.

“We collected shoes from individuals and pastors and decided to make a difference in their lives,” he says.

Oupakie says they will continue with this initiative and hopes to collect more shoes and school uniforms.

School principal Aaron Magudulela says the pastors are not only feeding the spiritual soul but also taking care of the learners by making their journey to school comfortable.

“The donation will ensure that the learners who didn’t have shoes are warm this winter.

“We are hoping other organisations, business people and residents would follow in their footsteps and help a difference in the life of a learner,” he says.
