Mazzone willing to hand ‘credible’ evidence to only Minister Brown
DA shadow minister of public enterprises refuses to hand over evidence of the document-shredding to Eskom.
Natasha Mazzone has refused to meet with Eskom management over allegations that the company was in the process of obliterating the paper trail related to the reappointment of Brian Molefe as CEO.
This follows a heated and drama-filled meeting with members of the portfolio committee on public enterprises to force Eskom to account for the controversial decision to reinstate Molefe to his position.
It was at the same meeting where former finance minister Pravin Gordhan, now an ordinary MP and member of the committee, challenged the entire board to resign consciously or face the chopping block.

“Come clean,” Gordhan urged chairperson Dr Ben Ngubane as well as two other board members who faced a barrage of questions from MPs, who later told them their submission was not satisfactory.
When Mazzone made her allegations to the media, Eskom concurred with Minister Lynne Brown’s office that “she must contact the police with evidence”.
In a scant statement emailed last night, Eskom, through its acting head of legal services, Suzanne Daniels, dismissed Mazzone’s allegations that the power utility was shredding documents and correspondence the committee asked for within 14 days.
It has now emerged the Megawatt Park-based state-owned entity had, in fact, written a letter to Mazzone to present them with evidence.
Mazzone spurned this request and told Primedia she was willing to meet with Brown, not Eskom.
