Bring it on boy – Malema challenges Mokonyane’s ‘Ben 10’

The EFF leader says Makasi 'must just try me' if he thinks Malema's claims about him are libellous.

Leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Julius Malema has challenged Luvo Makasi to take him to court for allegations he made against him.

Malema said he has been threatened with legal action before. However, there hasn’t been any legal action against him in this matter or other controversial allegations he’s made. He alleged that Makasi has been in a romantic relationship with Minister of Water and Sanitation Nomvula Mokonyane.

The EFF leader has previously accused Makasa of running the water and sanitation department, and that the lawyer is a go-to man if you you need tenders.

“Luvo Makasi is running the water affairs in this country, if you want to be paid or tender his the man two speak two otherwise u won’t succeed,” he tweeted earlier.

Malema challenged Makasi, whom he also referred to as a “boy”, to take legal action against him if he strongly believes that the allegations of him having an affair with the minister are not true.

“A lot of them threatened to take legal action against me before, till today dololo. #Luvo must just try me, bring it on boy,” said the EFF leader on Twitter.

The 32-year-old, who’s a director at Cape Town law firm Boqwana Burns, complained that his personal and professional conduct had been put in doubt because of the allegations.

He referred to a damning article about him in the City Press, which appears to confirm that he has indeed running the department, giving orders to senior officials and arranging multimillion-rand deals in exchange for kickbacks.

City Press reported that he had failed to offer them any comment despite being given the time to do so.

“The article was published without my comment and it contains, at best, certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations, and at worst, exhibits intention to malign my reputation and credibility,” Makasi said while addressing the media in Sandton, in Johannesburg, on Tuesday.

“It is evident that City Press did not do any less then wilfully ignore simple facts that any credible journalist would have considered and simply verified before publishing an article which defames and criminalises, and at best maligns my name and those of the institutions that I serve,” he added.
