Pretoria metro cop due in court after he ‘shot and killed’ motorist

The officer allegedly bumped his car into Mashigo’s legs, injuring him prior to the shooting.


The Tshwane metro police officer who allegedly shot and killed a motorist in Hatfield, Pretoria, will appear again in court on Friday for a formal bail application.

Tsakane Shimange died from a gunshot wound to his chest after he was stopped by Constable Thakatso Mashigo on the corner of Grosvenor and Park streets near the Gautrain station last Friday, Rekord East reported.

Shimange allegedly bumped his car into Mashigo’s legs, injuring him prior to the shooting.

 Tshwane metro spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamaba said the officer appeared before court on Monday.

“He is being remanded in custody until the formal bail application is heard.”

Mahamba said investigations were ongoing.
