A woman caused a commotion when she stripped naked and caressed the statue of former president Nelson Mandela in Sandton.

The woman was said to have walked around Nelson Mandela Square before undressing herself in full view of the public on Monday afternoon, The Star reported on Wednesday. The spectacle caused those working in nearby restaurants to get their orders wrong and one man was hit on the head by his wife for getting up for a closer look.

Social media was abuzz with people trying to find out who she was.

Some people were however not amused by the stunt.

Many called her actions distasteful and commented on whether her body was good enough to be shown in public.

Khotso Tladi, a chef at Baglios said: “She didn’t have a nice body, everything was saggy and she had hair. Afroman was better.”

Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square regional marketing manager Megan Meas told the paper that they were aware of the incident.

“This was an unauthorised incident conducted by a private citizen in her personal capacity on our property,” she said.

The woman was not charged and her whereabouts are unknown.

The lady's actions send a messege to Madiba to say that NPA is divided into two factions leaving SA nation confused. Students accuse government for their own misbehaving of tinage pranacy. Political parties are disrespecting the code of conduct in parlament and jobs are reserved for foreigners. What remains forordinary south africans is joblessness and frastration.

Poor woman is mentally sick, and woman this days must be careful who they date with, outsiders are good at this. This is not the first time recently in Mafikeng this has happened at the manucipal offices luckily our police took her to Bophelong hospital. This is time that the government must protect the SA woman. They must find out what happened and assist her and give feed to the community. I think its the 12 woman that this is happening TO HER. I AM VERY, VERY WORRIED.

It does not surprise me at all. If you look at it critically one would realize that this woman must have been fooled by some prophet or sangoma to perform this act in order to be rich or acquire some 'powers.'

Why wasn't she arrested for disrespecting this world icon of Tata Madiba and also for exposing her naked body in public? This doesn't sound like a joke. In South Africa people people are used to taking things and actions for granted because of the word "FREEDOM". But the law must must tell the citizen the difference between freedom and libertinage which can become an offence. What did other foolish girls who can do the same learn from the punishment of this immoral girl? We will see worse than this in few days, let's wait and see a bigger movie than this.

The woman was on a bet with her friends. If she did that, she would win a 1,5million bucks.
