Man killed by train near Howick

Three people were seriously injured and five others  being treated for minor injuries after a train at the Doorfontien station derailed, 15 June 2015. The man and a friend were struck by a train, leaving his friend in a critical condition.

A man was killed after being struck by a train near Howick, in KwaZulu-Natal, on Friday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the man and a friend were struck by a train near the Midmar off-ramp of the N3 highway.

The friend was taken to hospital in a critical condition. Investigations as to what had led the two men to be on the tracks were under way.
