The court says he neglected to take steps to stop his patient from bleeding to death.

Witbank gynaecologist Dr Danie van der Walt has been found guilty on charges of manslaughter in Witbank, Mpumalanga.

This ruling was handed down on Wednesday, Witbank News reported.

After more than five hours of probing into every shred of evidence brought in front of her, Magistrate Merlene Greyvenstein ruled that Van der Walt neglected to take steps to stop his patient, the late Pamela Daweti, 23, from bleeding to death.

This happened 10 years ago after Pamela gave birth to her firstborn.

Greyvenstein was assisted by Dr Christiaan Sevenster, who was appointed as the expert assessor.

Dr Van der Walt was warned to be back in court on November 10 for sentencing.
