The man was arrested for possession of illegal substances but was also questioned about a hijacking that had taken place earlier in the day.

A male suspect was arrested on Laver Street in Nigel, Gauteng, on Thursday morning after a journalist at the Heidelberg/Nigel Heraut spotted him under a parked car outside an office building on Sixth Street.

The journalist asked the man what he was doing, and the suspect got up and ran down Laver Street. The journalist then called members from Nigel Community Policing Forum, and police arrived within seconds and arrested the suspect on a charge of possession of illegal substances.

Police also questioned the man in connection with a hijacking that occurred elsewhere that morning.
