Zesco United coach George Lwandamina says his side doesn’t have to fear Mamelodi Sundowns just because they have lost to them in a friendly.

Lwandamina’s chargers will go up against Sundowns in the first leg of the Caf Champions League semifinals on Saturday 17 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zambia.

United lost to Pitso Mosimane’s men in preseason when the Absa Premiership side travelled to Zambia before the start of the season. The Chipolopolo manager believes the Caf Champions League tie will be different to the two side’s previous meeting, as the club competition is a different stage.

“Do we have to fear them because we have lost to them in friendlies?” Lwandamina asked.

“This is the Champions League, and it has its own motivational factors, so you cannot bank on what happened in the past.

“I have never played them because every time they were in the country, I was out.

“Of course I don’t know much about them, but the motivation that this type of competition carries will be able to motivate the boys to do better.

“I know it will not be an easy game because all games are difficult.”
