Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Kwazulu-Natal (KZN) taxi boss, police said on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Shooz Magudulela said the net closed in on the suspects on Monday after a five-month investigation.
Sphamandla Mkhulisi, 43, was gunned down in April at a taxi rank in Ezimangeni.
“Mkhulisi was with a friend when a vehicle with unknown gunmen fired shots at them, fatally wounding him and injuring his friend. She was taken to hospital for medical attention,” Magudulela said.
Inanda police handled the investigation, arresting three suspects in the Bhambayi area. The fourth suspect, found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and five rounds of live ammunition, was arrested in the Nkandla area.
The suspects, aged between 21 and 39, faces charges of murder, attempted murder and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
They are expected to appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrates’ Court soon.
