Phakaaathi has learnt that Sbu and Shauwn Mpisane are still keen to buy the Free State Stars Premiership status.

Following Moroka Swallows’ failure to buy the status, the Mpisane family, which owns National First Division side, Royal Eagles, expressed interest in buying it, but the Mokoena family ended up keeping it.

Now a source close to Stars told Phakaaathi the Mokoena and Mpisane families are still in talks over a possible takeover.

“The stumbling block is that the Mpisane family wants to pay R15 million and then pay the balance in instalments, but Mike (Mokoena) wants the whole amount,” said the source.

Earlier, Stars general manger Ransti Mokoena said his family was still keen to sell the club, citing financial difficulties as the main reason for the need to sell.
