It’s a question that many are keen to know. What will Madonsela be doing next? For seven years, she has been our public protector, and the public has been left in awe of her tenacity, bravery and dedication to her job.
Speaking to eNCA, Madonsela said she would simply take a break and relax. She also had words of wisdom for her successor, advising them to stick to “protecting the public from improper conduct from what quarter it may come from”.
“Regarding the system we’ve built, improve the system where it is necessary to improve it, but one of the formulas that we have, that we think is timeless, is that we always ask what happened, what should have happened, is there a discrepancy between what happened and what should have happened?
“And if there is a discrepancy, is it material enough for us to call it improper conduct, or maladministration? And in calling it improper conduct or maladministration, how do we fix it?”
Madonsela also said it was the role of the public protector to endeavour to “place people as close to where government would have acted properly”.

It's not the fear of failure that stops us from acting to achieve our goals but the fear of disapproval as by not acting we choose failure
