A man died on Friday morning after he was hit by a train in Germiston.

An unidentified man believed to be aged between 30 and 40, was hit and killed by a train some time between 5am and 6am on the Tedstoneville railway line in Germiston, in Gauteng, on Friday morning.

The Germiston City News reports that Elsburg police responded to the scene.

“It is believed the man was walking along the railway line when he was struck by the train,” said Elsburg police communications officer Constable Daphney Phooko.

“He sustained injuries to his upper body and was certified dead on the scene by paramedics.”

The man was wearing blue Adidas takkies, a brown hoodie, a yellow T-shirt, a black jersey and black trousers.
