They fled the scene in stolen vehicles.

A man and his wife preparing to leave their home at 8pm on Tuesday night in Mbazwana, KwaZulu-Natal, were suddenly confronted by eight gun-wielding men, Zululand Observer reports.

The suspects assaulted Clement Mathenjwa, 40, and demanded cash, cellphones and the car keys to the couple’s blue Toyota Etios and white Nissan Hardbody, with registration numbers NIN 5196 and NIN 5072 respectively.

After tying up the victims, the robbers also took their television set, laptop and printer.

They fled the scene in the stolen vehicles.

The Manguzi police opened cases of house robbery and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police request anyone who witnessed the incident or have any information to contact detective branch commander Captain Gumede, on 035 5920103 or 082 4585442.
