Man dies in collision in Potchefstroom

The injured were treated and taken to Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital.

A man believed to be in his 30s died after two vehicles collided in Potchefstroom, ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing Harduth said on Friday.

Bodasing Harduth said the collision occurred at the Govan Mbeki Drive and Nelson Mandela Drive intersection on Thursday night.

When paramedics arrived they found that two cars had collided. “Sadly, a man found in one of the vehicles had succumbed to his injuries,” Bodasing Harduth said.

A woman was found trapped in a vehicle. She suffered moderate injuries. “She was extricated from the vehicle by Fire and Rescue.” Another passenger also escaped with minor injuries.

The injured were treated and taken to Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

The man who died as well as the two people who sustained moderate injuries were occupants of the white car. The driver of the red car declined hospital treatment.
