Three suspects, aged between 24 and 30, were arrested, and four unlicensed firearms with live rounds of ammunition were seized by Ntuzuma police in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) yesterday, August 25.
This was during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by Ntuzuma police in its policing area.
KZN police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Shooz Magudulela said in a statement: “Suspects were arrested at Bester area, Richmond Farm and M Section, KwaMashu.”
The 30-year-old suspect was arrested at M Section and was found in possession of two unlicensed firearms.
“All the seized firearms will be subjected for ballistics testing to determine if they were used in the commission of any crime in the country. Suspects will be linked to house robberies, murder and other cases that had recently occurred in the area,” the statement further read.
The arrested suspects will be charged for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and will appear at the Ntuzuma Magistrates’ Court on August 29.
