He is expected to remain in hospital for a week or two.

Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has admitted himself to a Cape Town hospital.

He checked himself into the hospital yesterday [Wednesday] for treatment to a recurring infection, his family said a brief statement last night.

“He is expected to remain in hospital for a week or two. The Archbishop underwent similar treatment last year.”

His daughter Thandeka Tutu-Gxashe said information would be released to the media when available.

Tutu, who is now 84, was admitted to hospital a number of times last year where he was treated for a lung infection.
