Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela was not pleased with his side’s performance following their 2-1 defeat to Bidvest Wits on Tuesday night.
The Amakhosi coach believes his charges played right into Wits’ hands on the night.
Goals from Elias Pelembe and Thulani Hlatshwayo were enough to give the Students three points, while Lorenzo Gordinho scored the consolation goal for Chiefs.
“I think one of the things we did wrong tonight is that we played to their strength. We allowed them to keep the ball in the air. You try your utmost best to be ready for it, and it shouldn’t happen because we arranged that it shouldn’t happen. We needed to deal with it but we didn’t,” said Komphela after the game.
“Secondly, I think their pressing game was better than ours. They showed more desire than we did. Those were the two defining things that I thought if we could have dealt better with them we could have come through.
“Two mistakes, two goals … it could have been better. First match, let’s go back and work on it.”
