The robbers assaulted the truck drivers and robbed them of their cash before fleeing the scene.

Police are investigating a case of robbery after shots were fired along the Pieters/Colenso road in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, earlier on Tuesday, Ladysmith Gazette reports.

Yesterday morning, occupants of a red Golf GTI with no registration plates fired shots at a Kia truck, resulting in the truck overturning at the side of the road.

The robbers assaulted the occupants and robbed them of their cash before fleeing the scene.

Police, EMRS and ER24 were on the scene.

According to the latest information, nobody was shot during the robbery as initially reported.

The occupants of the truck were treated for injuries sustained during the assault.

Police are hunting for the suspects.
