Man falls to his death from old Absa building

A 26-year-old man has died after falling to his death from an old Absa Bank building in Newscastle CBD, KwaZulu-Natal.

Bystanders stood by in horror as emergency personnel attended the scene shortly after 2pm on Monday, Newcastle Advertiser reported.

A shopkeeper, whose store premises was mere feet away from the incident, claimed he was horrified when the incident took place.

“I was in my store when it happened. I just heard a woman screaming, and when I came out, the body was there,” he said.

The woman who witnessed the man’s death has since been taken to Madadeni Provincial Hospital to be treated for shock.

Circumstances leading to the man’s death will be investigated by the police.
