Police in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, have arrested a 61-year-old woman for being in possession of heroin, Western Cape police said on Saturday.

Police were on crime prevention duties in Beacon Valley, Mitchell’s Plain, at about 6pm on Friday, Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said.

“The members executed a search warrant at a house in Korfball Street, Beacon Valley, and upon searching the house they found 60g of heroin in the bathroom, [with] an estimated street value of R10,000.”

A 61-year-old woman was arrested. She faced a charge of possession of drugs and would appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on Monday, Rwexana said.

In an unrelated case, a 31-year-old man was arrested for dealing in drugs in Wellington, she said.

Wellington visible policing members arrested the man for dealing in drugs and possession of a dangerous weapon on Saturday.

Officers seized tik (crystal methamphetamine), dagga, a knife, and money. The man would appear in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court on Monday, Rwexana said.
