Taxi driver killed, 17 passengers injured in Mpumalanga crash

There were 17 passengers injured in the collision.

A minibus taxi driver died and another was critically injured when two taxis collided on the N4 in Karino, about 12km from Nelspruit in the direction of Malelane, in Mpumalanga on Saturday, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said 17 passengers were injured in the collision.

ER24 paramedics and various other services attended to the crash and found both drivers trapped in their respective vehicles. “Sadly one of them had succumbed to his injuries. The other was in a critical condition. He was extricated by fire and rescue and treated by paramedics.”

He and all the other injured people were transported to hospital for further medical care. The cause of the accident was unknown, Bodasing said.
