ER24 paramedics responded to two fatal accidents in the past 24 hours.

Two people died and 18 others were injured in two separate road accidents in Gauteng, paramedics said on Saturday.

The first incident between a minibus taxi and a car took place late on Friday night at the corner of Hendrik Potgieter and Rhinoceros roads in Roodepoort, ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.

“ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on [the] scene and found patients standing and walking around on [the] scene. Upon assessment it was found that they sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. They were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.”

The second incident took place on the N12 East at Tom Jones Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Upon arrival at the scene paramedics found fire and rescue on the scene. There were two badly damaged cars with a person trapped in each vehicle.

“Sadly the people had succumbed to their injuries. The exact cause of the incidents are unknown. Authorities were on [the] scene,” Bodasing said.
