Jeremy Brockie has praised SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter after signing a new four-year contract with the club.

Matsatsantsa held off interest from Mamelodi Sundowns to secure the signature of the New Zealand striker, who has made quite an impact since joining SuperSport in January 2015.

Brockie has netted 28 times already for SuperSport, and was named this week as the side’s Player of the Season for 2015/16. He overcame a slump in form to thrive under Baxter, who took over at the end of January and led the team to a top eight finish and the 2016 Nedbank Cup.

“I have enjoyed my 18 months here so far, I did have another year left on my contract but I am happy to extend,” said Brockie, who was this week named SuperSport’s Player of the Season for the 2015/16 campaign.

“The club is going in the right direction and I want to keep working with Stuart Baxter, he developed me a lot in the last four or five months of the season. If I continue to work under him and win more trophies and keep developing as a player, I think this is the right place for me to be.”
