The EFF said it would ‘go into coalition with the people’ and not the DA, but voted for the party in solidarity against the ANC.

Bob Marley’s words “your worst enemy could be your best friend, and your best friend your worst enemy” best describe the turn of events in relationships among the EFF, DA and ANC. EFF leader Julius Malema once said he’d “kill for Zuma”, but he now says Zuma is the EFF’s “biggest problem”.

Following the results of the local government election where no political party got an outright majority, the EFF said it would “go into coalition with the people” and not the DA, but voted for the party in solidarity against the ANC. This move by the new kids on the block dealt the ANC a serious blow, seeing the ruling party losing long-held metros Tshwane, Johannesburg and Nelson Mandela Bay.

“The EFF will not go into coalition with any party but we’ll vote for DA in Tshwane, Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Nelson Mandela Mandela Bay,” said Malema. Now, EFF and DA members kiss, hug and dance in solidarity.
