Gabuza fell down the pecking order at Pirates towards the end of last season when goals dried up for him. He was benched, and it looked as though fans grew impatient with him for failing to form a formidable striking partnership with Tendai Ndoro.
The Bafana Bafana forward managed to score a goal in the Nedbank Cup semifinal against Free State Stars and made a rude gesture at fans in celebration. The striker later apologised to the team’s fans for the incident.
“I have nothing against Pirates supporters, and they have nothing against me too. The proof of that is the fact that they voted in the Carling Cup, and I was in the starting lineup in a Soweto Derby against Chiefs.
“That’s a clear indication that Bucs supporters still have faith in me. So I have no point to prove to anyone next season but to do my utmost to make a big impact in the team’s attack and help my team challenge for titles,” Gabuza told Vodacom Soccer.
