Pinetown man shot in the hip during hijacking

The victim was allegedly shot in the hip and forced out of his vehicle.

No arrests have been made after a man was shot and injured in an alleged hijacking on Moodie Street in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal.

Pinetown police spokesperson Captain Bongumusa Manqele said the victim, 44, had parked his car along Moodie street and was waiting for his friend who had gone to the shop when he was attacked by two armed men on Thursday, Highway Mail reported.

“The victim was allegedly shot in the hip and forced out of his vehicle. The men fled the scene with the victim’s light blue Hyundai Getz. The victim was transported to hospital in a stable condition,” said Manqele.

Rescue Care Paramedics Ceron Lennox said the man was stabilised on the scene and transported to hospital.

A case of hijacking and attempted murder was opened at Pinetown Police Station, but no arrests have been made.
