Kaizer Chiefs has reinstated Itumeleng Khune as the club’s captain going into the new season.

Khune takes over from Siphiwe Tshabalala as the leader of the Amakhosi army. The dreadlocked midfielder wore the captain’s armband in Steve Khomphela’s debut season as Chiefs coach.

The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper captained the Glamour Boys at the start of the 2014/15 season, but he was sidelined by injury for most of the season, forcing the coach to appoint Tefu Mashamaite as the club’s captain until the end of the season.

Chiefs announced Khune’s appointment on their official Twitter account.
