Kaizer Chiefs captain Siphiwe Tshabalala says he is “almost there” as he continues his recovery from knee surgery.

Tshabalala is expected to miss the start of the season – Amakhosi kick off on Tuesday with an Absa Premiership trip to Bidvest Wits and ten take on Cape Town Cty in the MTN8 on August 26.

“I am a work in progress, so far, so good,” said Tshabalala.

“I have had good sessions and I am happy, I am not 100 percent but I am almost there.”

Tshabalala says Chiefs are determined to make up for last season, where they failed to win a trophy under Steve Komphela.

“It was a bad experience for us to go trophiless, we are not happy about it and we want to change it. We want to make ourselves proud and do it for our supporters and our coach.”
