A relaxed Semenya has come across as confident and well-prepared for the race despite international media bringing up her gender again. Instead, Semenya has opted to focus on the positive and to relish in the encouragement South Africa has been sending her way.

“Thank you for the messages, I won’t be able to reply to all the inboxes and wallposts. But do know that your well wishes have been received 😊. Means a lot I’m overwhelmed by the support.

“When you put God first before everything. He will never forsake you ,” she wrote on Facebook.

On Twitter, Semenya had a tough message for her critics, who she deems ‘haters.’
