A police officer has been sentenced to 12 years behind bars after he shot and killed a fellow police officer earlier this year.
The police officer was sentence on Monday at the Pretoria Regional Court.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) secured the murder conviction at the Pretoria Regional Court on July 29 after Warrant Officer Titso Letlatsa Ntshenyeo killed a fellow police officer, Rekord Moot reported.
“He was found guilty of murdering a police officer, whom he shot eight times earlier this year,” said Ipid‘s spokesperson Robbie Raburabu.
The shooting resulted from an argument between Ntshenyeo and Captain Muzikayise Xulu, 43.
Xulu went to Ntshenyeo’s house in Lotus Gardens, in the west of Pretoria, to serve the accused with an eviction order, only to be killed, according to Raburabu.
The accused had been renting the house from Xulu, and Xulu had ordered Ntshenyeo out of his house.
“The accused discharged eight rounds into Xulu, who died at the scene,” said Raburabu.
In May 2015, Ntshenyeo was dismissed from police service for his crime and has since started serving his sentence.
