Emer-G-Med paramedics have arrived at the scene of a multi-vehicle pileup on the N1 South in Midrand, Gauteng, after three trucks and nine cars collided with one another.

“On assessment paramedics found that one person sustained serious injuries that required Advanced Life Support Care, while six others sustained minor to moderate injuries,” Emer-G-Med spokesperson Max Cohen said.

“The patients were treated on scene before being transported by Emer-G-Med and other services to various nearby hospitals.”

He said the exact cause of the collision was unclear and would be investigated by the relevant authorities. Cohen advised motorists to avoid the area, as there were heavy delays in both directions when approaching the scene.
